By this year, Vuitton owns two stores that bring in $10 million dollars annually.

The Louis Vuitton Empire expands and opens its first stores in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan.

1984

The expansion into Asia continues with an opening of the Seoul, Korea store.

1987

Moet Hennessy and Louis Vuitton merge to create LVMH.

1989

By this year, Louis Vuitton has 130 stores worldwide.

1990

There is a new President of Louis Vuitton and his name is Yves Carcelle.

1992

The first Louis Vuitton store in Beijing, China opened in the Palace Hotel.

1998

Louis Vuitton welcomes Marc Jacobs as Artistic Director and he quickly designs a men and women’s collection.

2000

The first store on the African continent was opened in Marrakech, Morocco. Louis Vuitton lends its hand, along with actress, Sharon Stone, to the American Foundation Against Aids as Stone designs a vanity named the Amfar. The vanity was auctioned off at the International Film Festival in Venice. All the proceeds went the aids foundation.

2002

The first Louis Vuitton building in Omotesando, Tokyo is opened.

2003

20th anniversary of the Louis Vuitton Cup. The first stores in Russia opens in Moscow and in India in New Delhi. The Utah and Suhali leather lines are also launched this year.

2004

The House of Louis Vuitton celebrates its 150th anniversary. Vuitton celebrates its inauguration of its second building on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, New York. They also celebrated the openings of stores in Continental China, Shanghai, and Johannesburg, South Africa. Another Christmas season collaboration for the window scenography sees Louis Vuitton pair up with Ugo Rondinone.

2006

Vuitton published a book ‘Louis Vuitton, Icons’ by Edition Assouline. Louis Vuitton also created the ‘Louis Vuitton Boheme Run between Budapest, Vienna and Prague. Another inauguration occurred with the Louis Vuitton House in Manhattan, New York and Taiwan. One of today’s most popular collections, the Damier Azur line was released. This years Louis Vuitton window display art was designed by Olufar Eliasson.

2007

The inauguration Takashi Murakami exhibition occurs, and the opening of the Louis Vuitton temporary boutique in a museum. This year also saw the opening of the first Louis Vuitton store in Cyprus, Greece.

2008

The opening of the Maison Louis Vuitton in Hong Kong. This year, Louis Vuitton celebrates the 10th anniversary of the City Guides collection.

2009

Stephen Sprouse in New York is celebrated with a tribute in his honor. In Auckland, New Zealand, the Louis Vuitton Pacific Series takes place. Another inauguration for the Takashi Murakami exhibition of Guggenheim Bilbao is admired.

2011

Talks are rumored to be happening in an effort to open the first Louis Vuitton store in and airport in Seoul Incheon International Airport.

2013
A new age with Nico
Nicolas Ghesquière replaces Marc Jacobs as Artistic Director.
